National Book Critics Circle

The National Book Critics Circle (NBCC) is an American tax-exempt organization for active book reviewers.[1] Its flagship is the National Book Critics Circle Award.

The NBCC was founded in New York City in 1974. Each year in March the National Book Critics Circle Awards issues awards to books in six categories: fiction, nonfiction, autobiography, biography, criticism, and poetry. Along with the "best" book awards, each year the NBCC votes for "the most accomplished reviewer," from within the membership, with the Nona Balakian Citation for Excellence in Reviewing, and "an individual's exceptional contributions to books" with the Ivan Sandrof Lifetime Achievement Award.
